Karlyn Nourse
Yoga | Hatha | Gentle Flow
"We spend our days badgered by voices that tell us to judge others, fear others, harm others, or harm ourselves. But we are not obligated to listen to those voices, or even to take responsibility for them. They may be where we come from, but they are not where we are going. There is another voice, a voice that shines. Ahimsa is the practice of listening to that voice of lightness, cultivating that voice, trusting that voice, acting upon that voice.” ~Rolf Gates
Karlyn began her yoga journey in 2014 after experiencing the negative health impacts of over exercising and focusing too much on physical appearance. Slowly, she transitioned to a daily asana practice by 2016. However, it wasn't until 2018 that Karlyn began exploring and studying the Eight Limb path in yoga. Studying the philosophy and history of yoga, as well as yoga asana, allowed Karlyn to let go of internalized self-criticisms and the perceived external pressures of "success" and "beauty". This inspired her to want to share the healing nature of the practice of yoga. Karlyn is an RYT 200hr certified yoga instructor with Yoga Alliance.
Karlyn's classes focus on alignment, mindfulness and empowering students to listen to their bodies. Her focus on this is to create safety and stability, making a welcoming environment for students from all walks of life. After realizing that physical asana is only one of the eight limbs, Karlyn strives to enrich all her asana classes with spiritual, historical and mindful backing. She does this, not only to deepen student's practice, but also to honor the origins of the yogic tradition. Karlyn will often incorporate mantra, chanting, mudras and Sanskrit into her classes. Her goal is to connect students to themselves and, the only constant in life, the eternal now of the present moment.
